New Committee, New Vision
Every four years, during the presidential primary, Republicans not only have the opportunity to vote for their preferred presidential candidate, but also for members of their local County Republican Central Committee. For the first time in nearly 15 years, we now have a full committee made up of energetic, highly motivated, America First members.
Sworn in this January (2025), the new committee hit the ground running. Although this is a non-election year, our focus has been on building a strong foundation through outreach efforts—expanding our website presence, launching a regular newsletter, maintaining active social media updates, and conducting petition drives. Our mission is simple:
grow our base.
Being a Republican in a heavily Democratic county isn’t always easy. We want every Republican to know—they are not alone. We’ve organized social events where like-minded individuals can meet, enjoy good food and drink, and speak freely, without fear of encountering “TDS” (Trump Derangement Syndrome!).
We’ve also launched a new precinct program to connect with every Republican voter in the county. Whether you want to volunteer, donate, or even run for local office, we’re here to help you get involved.
In 2014, Republicans held 44% of all local elected offices below the level of county supervisor, including city councils, water and fire boards, and, most importantly, school boards. Today, that number has dropped to just 14 elected Republicans county-wide. We’re determined to reverse that trend by recruiting, training, and campaigning for strong Republican candidates at the local level.
Save the Date: August 23rd!
We’re bringing back our beloved Republican Family BBQ—an event you won’t want to miss!
Expect great food, cold drinks, lively conversation, several gubernatorial candidates as guest speakers, and of course, our legendary raffle. More details coming soon.
Together, let’s build a stronger Republican presence and a brighter future for our Santa Cruz County.
In Liberty,
Michael D. Lelieur
Chairman, Santa Cruz County Republican Central Committee
